We identify the following PRIORITY AREAS in the investigation:
All are directly linked to fundamental needs of society. We employ BASIC and APPLIED science approaches aimed at promoting health, preventing disease, developing treatments, and protecting the environment.
The 4 KEY COMMITMENTS form the pillars of everything we do at the Institute.
INNOVATE: Lead Panama to the frontier of science through the generation of new knowledge and fundamental discoveries to boost the health sector, reinforce agro-industrial quality and safety, and conserve and use our natural resources in a sustainable way through of basic and applied research.
EDUCATE: Serve as an interuniversity platform for scientific innovation and bilingual higher education for future generations of teachers and innovators in the country.
COLLABORATE: Create an inter-institutional meeting space between academia, international consortia, public institutions and productive sectors of the country to promote scientific and technological progress in Panama.
ENSURE SUSTAINABILITY: Ensure the long-term viability of the Institute through the protection of its self-sustainability, the maintenance and growth of its infrastructure, and the recruitment of high-quality personnel with the commitment to maximize investment in scientific research and development for the benefit of of national interest.
